Although public green spaces are not within the neighborhood itself, well-distributed parks in surrounding areas are easily accessible. With a predominance of three and four-bedroom residences, this neighborhood provides spacious living choices.

Southern Hills is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of Lincoln. Although the ambience is not the liveliest in this part of Lincoln with the bars in nearby neighborhoods, it is easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located a short distance away. Southern Hills is very quiet overall, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.
